DRUGS & ALCOHOL POLICY

1. Statement of Intent
Fixiz Ltd is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and productive working environment. The misuse of drugs or alcohol by any person working on our behalf poses a serious risk to health, safety, and operational effectiveness.
This policy applies to all employees, subcontractors, and visitors on Fixiz Ltd premises or project sites.
2. Scope and Application
This policy covers:
- All Fixiz Ltd employees (full-time, part-time, and temporary)
- All subcontractors and agency workers
- Any visitor attending a Fixiz site
It applies during all working hours, including overtime, travel in company vehicles, and at company-hosted events.
3. Prohibited Activities
The following are strictly prohibited:
- Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs while at work or on company premises
- Consuming alcohol or drugs during working hours (including breaks)
- Possessing, supplying, or distributing illegal drugs on company premises or sites
- Attending work unfit for duty due to the after-effects of alcohol or drug use
4. Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medication
Employees taking prescribed or over-the-counter medication that may affect their ability to work safely must:
- Inform their line manager or supervisor
- Obtain written confirmation from their doctor or pharmacist if required
- Not operate machinery, drive, or work at height if the medication impairs judgment
5. Testing
Fixiz Ltd reserves the right to carry out drug and alcohol testing in the following circumstances:
- Pre-employment (for safety-critical roles)
- Following an accident or near-miss where substance misuse is suspected
- Where there is reasonable cause to suspect impairment
- As part of a return-to-work programme following a substance-related absence
Refusal to take a test when reasonably required will be treated as a disciplinary matter and may result in dismissal.
6. Responsibilities
6.1 Management
- Ensure this policy is communicated to all staff and subcontractors
- Act promptly when a potential breach is identified
- Handle situations sensitively and in accordance with this policy
- Arrange support and referral for employees with substance misuse issues
6.2 Employees
- Report to work fit for duty at all times
- Notify their supervisor if they believe a colleague may be impaired
- Comply with testing requirements when requested
- Seek support if they have a substance misuse issue
7. Support and Rehabilitation
Fixiz Ltd recognises that drug and alcohol dependency is a health condition. Employees who voluntarily declare a problem will be supported and referred to appropriate services. Voluntary disclosure will not automatically result in disciplinary action provided the employee engages with support and does not pose an ongoing risk to safety.
8. Disciplinary Action
Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Cases involving illegal drug possession or supply on company premises will be referred to the police.
9. Confidentiality
All matters relating to substance misuse will be treated confidentially, in accordance with the company’s data protection obligations.

11. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or following any significant change in legislation or operations.
